We’re back for a third year with more fun filled activities than ever! #mrwuggumsfilmfest is a mix of old Hollywood premiere and luxury getaway with modern conveniences!
Options abound in 2022, with activities in both the sleepy town of Cactus Gulch and on the pirate island of Purrtuga, a short 90 minute bus ride away with the reliable Chesty!
Once at the coast, guests can choose to party at Manny’s Rum Shack where the punch is potent and snorkeling gear is available, or hop aboard our pirate ship, the Sans Souci and head out to Purrtuga for swashbuckling adventure!
Ride the zipline! Get your yo ho ho on at Catsbois’ Hideaway! Indulge in cave tubing under the waterfall! Enjoy the view of the crystal clear water from our glass bottom boats!
Purrtuga isn’t the only place to find fun during Mr. Wuggums’ Filmfest, there’s lots to do in Cactus Gulch, too! Try the Rainbow ‘Rita Challenge at Manny’s Cantina: El TacoBar, enjoy noms at the Hotel Gato or check out the exciting new theme ride at the Casa de Oddball – “Privateers of the Cenote”, constructed just for this event!
Need accommodations? No problem! Stay in downtown Cactus Gulch at the Hotel Gato or at the peaceful Xanawu Hacienda located at the end of town.
Want a taste of authentic island life? Book one of the cabanas on the island of Purrtuga, accessible only by our pirate ship, the Sans Souci! Be prepared to ‘rough it’ though, as there are no stores on the island.
Wow, with so much fun going on, I almost forgot to mention the movies! This year features nine films from Xanawu Studios, including TWO never before seen premieres!
Two premieres called for a celebration, so we’ve constructed an outdoor cinema on Purrtuga to simulcast our films for guests who want to remain on the island. Patrons in Cactus Gulch can watch the movies in our beautiful theater adjacent to the Xanawu Hacienda, featuring daycare facilities and VIP seating for pals with special needs.
Island antics and Caribbean cuisine await – treat yourself to the experience of your nine lives, treat yourself to Mr. Wuggums’ Third Annual Filmfest!
